Chapter Three.:.Recognition
"You may say your final goodbyes." Jax announced. Finally, Rein's tears gave in and the salt water
ran down her face aggressively. She ran toward Mark, and Mark was already facing her, still as a stone
with a hard expression on his face.
"Take me with you." he croaked quietly. Tears were brimming on his eyes, but he didn't want to
release them quite yet. "Take me with you." he repeated, this time louder than the first. But they both
had heard the penalty. If you did anything wrong (and this felt like it would be one of the wrongdoings),
we may never see the world in the same eyes. Whatever that means, thought Rein.
"I'm sorry.. Mark... I'm sorry. I can't. I won't try. And if I did, the consequences are too great." Rein
stuttered. Her long wavy hair was a mess, and her skin paler than ever. Mark's tears started to fall,
and he buried his face into her shirt.
"I love you." he cried, and he meant it.
"I love you, too." Rein whispered, and they shared a long time hugging each other until Jax
announced that it was time to leave with your Sectors. The guards in black pushed all of the lovers
and family members away from each other. "I SWEAR I WILL SEE YOU AGAIN!" were the last words Rein
heard her ten year old brother scream as they were forced away from each other, which sent even
more tears to stream down her face.
"I love you." the word slipped her lips silently as the image of her crying sibling was rapidly pulled
away into his Sector's plane, and Rein was shoved into her own.
The sleek silver lining on the bronze colored plane seemed morphed into the disfigured sky, which was
tainted with bronze from the apocalypse. The sky hasn't been blue in weeks, and it may never turn
back to it's natural colour again. Around her in the plane were just bawling children and teens, so
she automatically assumed that this was just one of the sides of the plane that kept all the younger
survivors. She thought that there would be more, though, because there only seemed to be a couple
hundred of them in this huge place. There was an upstairs, too, but it's door was locked with a huge
padlock the size of her head. Her eyes blurred, but when she looked around her, she realized how divine
this plane was. The flooring was marbled, and the walls were a calming white. The decor around her
was so ornate, it was hard to believe she was just being shipped away to another Sector. If you took
out the feeling of loneliness and airsickness, this place would be like a heaven! With her eyes wide
open, she observed the people around her. This is very strange... Why barely any people compared to
the thousands in some planes, and all around thirteen or under? There would be people upstairs, right?
But it's locked. That seems unlikely, she thought, confused.
But she remembered the situation she was in, and was quickly in tears once again. She was seated
next to what seemed like a stranger since her eyesight was so blurred, and just sat there bawling like
a baby. Her new life felt like crippled remains of her old life. Her memories were all a lie. Why would God
do such a thing? she thought to herself, but her thoughts were interrupted by the boy next to her.
"Rein Clementine, is that you?" asked the stranger next to her, unsure. Rein paused her tears, and
turned her head slowly to examine the stranger. But this was no stranger, it was her best friend, Adam.
Adam LeGray.
"Adam LeGray!" Rein blurted in disbelief. "Is that really you? Yes, yes I'm Rein!" and she hugged
him tightly. "I thought you'd be dead." she cried, and kept crying in happiness.
But Adam pushed her back, with a disgusted look on his face.
"Adam...?" she started, shocked, but was interrupted with a sharp,
"I'm not Adam."
